How Heat Tracing Works

Maintaining the required process temperature.

Heat tracing uses flexible and adaptable electrical heating elements, heating cables or heating tapes installed along the length of pipes or equipment.

The heating element is installed in physical contact with the surface. Thermal insulation is then applied to reduce heat loss and retain the required process temperature.

Electrical heating tapes are designed to provide controlled heating along pipes and equipment. Their heating behaviour allows reduced power output as temperature increases, supporting efficient temperature maintenance.

Installation & System Considerations

Efficient heat transfer and reliable system performance.

For heating cables, heating lines and heating tapes, assembly-friendly connection components and fastening materials can be supplied to support correct installation.

Aluminium foil or stainless steel foil may be used to improve heat distribution and minimise unwanted thermal insulation between the heating cable and the heated equipment.

Properly installed thermal insulation is essential for reducing heat losses and maintaining efficient system performance.

Special mechanical solutions may be required for supports, flanges and other complex equipment configurations, particularly for high-temperature applications.
